Ancient drums are  Pounding, sounding an alarm Poison in the soil  Festering in forests and farms Invisible ills ooze into our bones A sweet child smiles While decay claims her home The earth turns The sky burns Ashes block the sun The ice melts The seas swell Threatening everyone Hearts are dark Wildfires light the night We choke on smoke Eyes aching and blind In this deadly dream A hand muffles our mouth Running as we scream But there's no way out The earth turns The sky burns Ashes block the sun The ice melts The seas swell Threatening everyone A child drops a seed deep into the earth A child tries to hea everything we've hurt Weather wanders A rude intruder who is lost Storms grow stronger\ With catastrophic cost Are we listening now While disasters rise How can we allow What we see with our own eyes The earth turns The sky burns Ashes block the sun The ice melts The seas swell Threatening everyone

Dirt 02:46
Camels can travel days without drinking He can't even make it til noon That damn sun burns without ever blinking He waits for the wafer of moon Days bear down and make your head heavy Days bear down and make your head hurt You were promised a Garden of Eden You were given nothing but dirt He's got a shirt that's shiny with medals He's got some steel in his legs Sometimes he struts as proud as the devil Sometimes he just stays in bed Days bear down and make your head heavy Days bear down and make your head hurt You were promised a Garden of Eden You were given nothing but dirt Silver things in a screaming sky He'll hear their wings til the day he dies Maybe some day his war will be ending Maybe there will be a cease fire He can't remember what he's defending He can't remember who or why Days bear down and make your head heavy Days bear down and make your head hurt You were promised a Garden of Eden You were given nothing but dirt

She chopped off all of her beautiful hair And laid herself bare To the heartless hands of time They'll cut her and gut her For what lies inside She cannot hide her original crime Her round mouth will scream For what might have been But her dry eyes won't cry She stenciled her skin with A heart and a spear Offering her fear To anyone who'll hear Alters have called her Their lost little lamb But isn't she damned To a fate heaven planned Her round mouth will scream For what might have been But her dry eyes won't cry Will bravery save her Or will she be changed Tamed by the pain Always sad and strange She chopped off all of her beautiful hair And laid herself bare To the heartless hands of time Her round mouth will scream For what might have been But her dry eyes won't cry

I walked with an angel Somewhere stranded in the sky Looking down down down where All those broken birds fly She held out a tender hand While she twisted my spine She took my pain like communion I drank my pain like wine, sweet wine I live like a pauper I sang in a crooked choir With nothing to offer And desires for someplace higher Looking for a tender hand Someone to pull me through Suddenly I understand I've been looking for you, only you Now deep in your kisses Still I ache for grace I've searched the whole world over For your familiar face You hold out a tender hand You're leading me to believe This is the promised land But part of me still grieves, I still grieve I walked with an angel...

Divided 03:25
You've got your father's name and your mother's soul Maybe that's why you never feel whole They split apart when you were three Guess that's why you're destined to be Divided A little of this and some of that Undecided Between what you want and what you have Life's lopsided Sometimes happy but mostly sad and divided You've got a rebel's mouth and an angel's eye Feeling like you live in disguise Praying to stay with one foot out the door It's hard to say when you've been more divided... Far too broken to patch up Too many pieces to match up Too far behind to catch up When you're divided...

Only Me 03:37
Out here on the sidelines Writing with no bylines I'm a ghost with a pen Out here on the fringes All I've ever been is Who I am I'm only pretending to live this larger life you see When every day's ending and everything's still I'm only me Faces and mbraces Searching for small traces Of sincerity Balancing on ledges Circling round the edges Of society I'm only pretending ... I am not broken Only smaller than the big wide open life that I planned A thin voice is fluttering Cutting out and cutting in No one hears Static in the atmosphere Threatening to interfere Til I'm hardly here I'm only pretending...

She stayed hungry and humble she did Balanced on a broken past Half she showed and half she hid Dreaming of a feast in her fast She's a solitary soul Not quite whole Wondering how the rest of the world turns just so She tries to sing a tender tune To a world that's too tough Like a sip of soup from a dirty spoon It's just too thin It's not enough She's a solitary soul... She siphons hope from the stars That she can barely see Wondering in her desperate dark When will their light shine on me She's a solitary soul...

She was a young girl with eyes of brown Spent three days all alone on an island Where the wind and the rain make a pitiful sound And the sun and the sea endlessly pound The rocks on the shore and the white sand On the first day she wrote with a stick in the sand Words of welcome to all passing sailors But as evening fell on that very same day The tide coming in washed her words away While the light of the moon grew paler On the second day she stood at her window and sang A beautiful song to the morning But no one was there on her island to hear And the beautiful song that she sang disappeared While the sound of the rain kept falling On the third day she woke and she planted a seed For a rose that would bloom in her garden But the sun beat down and it withered the rose For she'd chosen a place where no river flowed In a land there that never gives pardon And though none ever read what she wrote in the sand Or heard what she sang from her window Though the rose that she planted died in her hand For three days the cruel world was a lovelier land For the brown eyed girl had made it so

Looking for a mystic To take your life and fix it for you You believe in the soothsayers Offering up prayers for you You are just a speck of sand The universe is way too grand You must go so very far On a hummingbird's small heart You are a pilgrim One in a million wandering souls Hoping for a vision To make your wisdom whole You are just... Flying over oceans You're brave but you're broken too In your restless roaming There will be a home for you You are just ...

There is no wind in the stars tonight The moon hangs mute in a frozen sky It's still, so still The darkness keeps repeating Silence as a lullaby The whole night is breathing The soft hush of goodbye Your tender eyes held my gaze this morning Your gentle soul floated from its mooring You're gone, you're gone Free from pain and sorrow Sailing those eternal seas But in some far tomorrow You'll be coming back to m
